Nicole Jones pre-k class at TH Johnson has written and illustrated a hardcover book entitled HOW TO MAKE THE GRINCH SMILE. Each student contributed two pages for the book, one with a sentence for the story and another with an illustration.
“We were able to do this through Scholastic and Student Treasures,” said Jones. “Each student gave a sentence, and we practiced writing and practiced writing. We wrote a draft and then did the final project and put it all together.”

The book is dedicated to those who need a smile.

THJ Pre-k teacher, Nicole Jones, and her class display the hardcover book t
hey wrote entitled How To Make The Grinch Smile.

“To make the Grinch smile I would bring him to Walmart and get him a bike,” Yesenia said on her page in the book. “Then we would go to my home.”

“To make the Grinch smile, I would take him to McDonald’s,” said Jeremiah. “We would eat fries with Mommy and Daddy.” Jones said students learned about writing and publishing and a few other important topics as well.

“We watched the Grinch and it gave us a great opportunity to teach kindness and for them to be nice.” The class invited parents to attend an author’s party that included a reading of the book and green Grinch Refreshments. Each child received a hardcover copy of the book to take home.
