The Taylor Hi-Steppers returned from competition in Belton,
Texas last weekend with a collection of trophies and plaques for their award
winning performances. The Steppers were the smallest team competing and they
won 2nd place overall, beating out larger 5A and 6A schools.
Team awards include 1st Runner up Grand Champion Team; Varsity
Small Team Champion in the categories of modern, novelty, and pom; Judges awards
for showmanship, technique, and choreography; and Super Sweepstakes (scoring
95+ on all 3 dances).
Officer Awards include the Judges Award for precision, and Sweepstakes
(scoring 90+ on all 3 officer dances).
Mekenzie Thornton’s solo placed 2nd in the 9th-10th grade
category out of over 30 soloists!
