The Taylor High School Theater Department is proud to present the
2017 Fall Show, Sophocles’ Antigone by Jean Anouilh, adapted by Lewis
Galantiere.
This modern retelling of the classic of Greek theater tells the
story of Antigone (Makayla McGlon), a princess who is forced
to take a stand
when the new King of Thebes, Creon (Christian Yannis), refuses to bury the
bodies of his rivals, her brothers.
Antigone’s desire to fight for what she believes in is complicated
by her engagement to Haemon (Caleb Nunamaker), Creon’s son, and words of
warning from her sister Ismene (Tracey Lucas).
Speaking out against a tyrant is never safe, and Antigone is
forced to make a decision that will affect the lives of her family and her
nation. A Greek chorus (Viannah Gomes, Latavia Anderson, O’Marion Henderson,
Chase Luna, Emily Floyd & Yasmine Asfar) guides the audience through this
tale of morality which has remained relevant despite first being staged over
two thousand years ago.
Antigone
will be presented on Saturday, November 11th at 7:30
PM, and Sunday, November 12th at 4:30 PM at the Main Street Event
Center Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Due to
some mature themes, audience members under twelve may need parental
supervision. Come out and support the
THS Theater Department!
